On board of the Panagiota, a two-masted wooden motor sailer, this multi-adventure cruise takes us to the Ionian Islands spread out along the west coast of Greece. Here we see Hellas at its greenest. This tour takes us from Corfu to the Island of Lefkas, with its white chalk cliffs and picture perfect beaches as well as to the Island of Cephalonia with its picture perfect village of Fiskardo and the enchanting Melissani Cave. On Meganisi and Paxos – an island all covered in olive trees – where time seems to have stood still, we may have unforgettable insights into traditional Greek island life. For seven days we explore the unique island and coastal world by boat & bike, canoe, and on foot. This family-friendly cruise leaves a lot of room for fun, games and spontaneity. Biking, hiking, canoeing, swimming or relaxing on board: You decide each day what you feel like doing. Our tour guide is familiar with the country and gladly gives advises and makes suggestions, accompanies us at the various activities and can tell us a lot about the lively history of Greece.

Paxos is the smallest of the seven Ionian Islands with a higher population of olive trees then people – 32 km² are home to over 250,000 olive trees! They cover the island in a wonderful silver green shimmer. The natural harbor of Gaios is unique and provides a special atmosphere during our stay here. In the afternoon, we take a short bike ride along the coast to Kaki Lagkada beach, where you can swim in the crystal-clear Ionian Sea. The evening can be spent relaxing in a local tavern in Gaios.
Day 3 (Sun) Paxos Island – Lefkas Island (approx. 8 km/5 mi. by bike)
In the morning, we cruise to Lefkas Island, Lefkas City, but before arriving we anchor near Antipaxos for a swim stop from the boat. After a long cruise we reach a narrow channel with an original swing bridge which connects the Greek mainland with the island. From Lefkas City we start our tour around the lagoon and can enjoy a second swim at the white sand beach, Agios Ioannis. After returning to the boat, we navigate our way to Nidri where we will spend the evening and the night.
Day 4 (Mon) Lefkas Island – Cephalonia Island (approx. 10 km/6 mi. by bike)
In the morning, we ride from Nidri through olive groves to a nearby waterfall. If we are lucky, a steady stream of water will enable us to take a refreshing swim. Following the excursion, we make our way to Fiskardo on the island of Cephalonia. This port, located at the northern tip of the island, delights us with its colourful little houses and many cafes and bars along the picturesque harbour promenade. An evening walk of approx. 30 minutes takes us to a pretty lighthouse. Overnight in Fiskardo.
Day 5 (Tue) Cephalonia Island – Meganisi Island (approx. 15 km/12,5 mi. by bike)
After a short crossing by boat, we reach the harbour of Sami. Today’s bike tour starts here and leads us along the coastline to the enchanting Melissani Cave; accessible only by row boat. The boat meets us in Sami and takes us for a well-deserved swim break! Our journey then takes us further to Meganisi, a charming island where we spend the night.
Day 6 (Wed) Meganisi Island – Arillas (approx. 6 km/4 mi. by bike)
After breakfast we have the chance to explore Meganisi on our bike. Afterwards a long crossing will take us to Arillas, an idyllic and peaceful place along west coast of Greece, close to Perdika on the Greek mainland. A stroll along the sandy beach or a swim around Panagiota (the boat) rounds off the day. We spend the night in Arillas.

The Cyclades Islands, comprising of more than 30 islands, was the cradle of the first European civilisation 5,000 years ago. Here we also see a truly authentic side of Greece: Gleaming white cube houses with blue shutters and labyrinth-like alleys dominate the architectural character of the islands’ villages and towns. Along the mostly ragged coastlines there are impressive geological formations, turquoise-blue sea, and fantastic sand beaches.
Experience Greece from its greenest side on the Saronic Islands that lie between the Greek mainland and the Peloponnese. Learn about the Greek Liberation Struggle between 1821 and 1830 without which Greece would not be as we know it today. Experience the fascinating symbiosis of antiquity and modern times by Bike & Boat and delight in the authentic beauty of the Greek Aegean.
Day 1 (Fri) Athens (Embarkation)
Individual journey to Marina Alimos/Palaia Faliro. Check-in on the ship is possible from 2 pm onwards. Dinner on board and overnight stay in Athens.
Day 2 (Sat) Kythnos Island (approx. 15 mi./25 km)
Early in the morning we sail to Kythnos Island, famous for its cheese and honey since the antiquity. We begin our first cycling tour in the harbour of Merichas and head towards the island’s capital, Chora. Along the way we can enjoy wonderful, scenic views of the coastline. Chora is a lovely town, situated on a high plateau. The town’s alleys are decorated with painted flowers and geometric patterns. We continue on to the picturesque village of Driopida before returning to Merichas, where we can spend the evening in one of the cosy tavernas.
Day 3 (Sun) Seriphos Island (approx. 17 mi./28 km) – Syros Island
In the morning, our boat takes us to Seriphos, a small island far off the beaten tourist track. The island is characterised by deep valleys, countless bays and coves, and numerous beautiful sandy beaches. From the harbour town of Livadi, we cycle along a serpentine road to the island’s main town of Seriphos, whose cube form houses, nestled into landscape, stretch along the mountain ridge high above the sea. From Seriphos, we continue on through untouched landscape to the Byzantine monastery of the Archangel Michael. We then return to Livadi along a panoramic road on the East coast. In the afternoon the ship takes us to Syros, where we can stroll through the breathtaking old town and round off the day in one of the numerous cafes on the spacious harbour promenade.
Day 4 (Mon) Syros Island (approx. 21 mi./34 km) – Kea Island
The town of Ermoupolis on Syros is the capital town of the Cyclades and offers an unforgettable view upon arrival: The town which is built on two hills is different from the other Cycladic towns. Pastel coloured houses, many of which have classical facades dominant the townscape. We cycle along the coast of Syros which is full of bays and coves along the entire southern half of the island to the beautiful beach of Galissas and then past the convent of Saint Barbara back to Ermoupolis. In the afternoon we continue by boat to the island of Kea.
Day 5 (Tue) Kea Island (approx. 15 mi./25 km)
Our starting point for exploring the north western-most inhabited Cycladic Island is the beautiful natural harbour of Korissia. From here we climb up to the island’s capital Ioulis before continuing on to the white sand Otzias Beach where we enjoy a refreshing swim stop. Afterwards we cycle back to Korissia, and then sail to Poros in the Saronic Gulf in the afternoon. The harbour town of Poros is truly spectacular with its iconic clock tower soaring above the rest of the town. Poros in the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing evening and get lost in the authentic Greek island atmosphere.
Day 6 (Wed) Poros Island (approx. 14 mi./23 km)
Today, we almost completely circle the entire island of Poros, which in ancient times was dedicated to the sea god, Poseidon. Shortly before the end of the tour we arrive at Russian Bay, a sandy beach with turquoise blue waters, the perfect place for a relaxing swim! Once back in Poros, we board the boat and enjoy a delicious midday meal as we cruise to Aegina.
Day 7 (Thu) Island Aegina (approx. 22 mi./35 km)
The island of Aegina is known far beyond the Greek borders for its incredible pistachio nuts! Today’s bike tour takes us up to the sanctuary of Aphaia, towering high above the azure blue of the sea. The incredibly well-preserved temple is located on the only point on the island where the Aegean Sea can be seen on both sides. On our way back to the boat, we cycle across the middle of the island past the monastery of Nektarios all the way to the town of Aegina. Here we board the boat for our last cruise back to Athens. The last evening on board concludes with a communal dinner and last get-together in a cosy atmosphere with crew, fellow travellers, and tour guides.
Day 8 (Fri) Athens (Disembarkation)
After breakfast check-out and individual return home or extended stay in Athens.
Itinerary changes
The Cyclades are relatively susceptible to wind. Normally this will only result in minor modifications of the tour route. However, should the wind be too strong or dangerous, the travel route may markedly differ from the planned route. Our substitute tour leads through the Saronic Gulf for the entire week, one of the most historic regions of Greece: We would cross between the Greek mainland and the Peloponnese and discover the islands of Aegina, Poros, Hydra, Spetses, and the Methana peninsula. A highlight of this substitute journey is a visit to the ancient Epidauros, home to the best-preserved theatre in Greece.
By Bike & Boat we discover the famous island of Ithaca, said to have been the home of Odysseus, the unforgettable green bird sanctuary island of Lefkas, and explore the fantastic mountain world of Cephalonia and the beautiful olive groves that cover the small island of Paxos. Enjoy your week in absolute comfort on board the wooden motor yacht and let yourself be spoilt by the excellent Greek hospitality and cuisine!
Level 2 – 3
Participants require a relatively high level of fitness for this tour. The daily routes vary in length 12 – 25 mi/20 – 40 km and lead through hilly or mountainous terrain. The tours can be completed without any time-constraints. The cycle tours range between a total of 1,000 – 2,970 ft./300 – 600 m of elevation. There are also some extended climbs where walking your bicycle is of course permitted. Most of the roads are asphalted and rarely frequented. Your tour guide will inform you each day about the tour details. You are free to set aside a half or full day to swim or spend on board the boat, instead of taking a planned cycle tour.
Group riding pace:
On our regular cycling tours, the cyclists on regular bicycles determine the pace. We ask guests who have reserved an e-bike to be mindful of this and to acknowledge that the regular cyclists need time to rest and take longer to climb the hills. We thank you for your understanding.
Requirement to wear a helmet
Helmets are mandatory on our bike tours. It is advised to bring your own, well fitted, helmet with you as our rental helmet numbers are limited (reservation required).
Bringing Children
We believe that only children with a good physical condition and previous bicycle tour experience and a minimum age of 10 are able to master the cycle tours with their own strength. Please note that the minimum height for a rental bike is 1.30 m (4.3 ft.) for hybrid bikes and 1.50 m (5ft.) for e-bikes.
Comfort Ship PANAGIOTA (all cabins with shower/toilet)

At 23 x 6 m the MS Panagiota is a traditional Greek caique, fully renovated in 2001. A cosy saloon with stained glass windows, comfortable seating areas throughout the ship, and sunning mats on both sun decks provide a truly relaxed and homely atmosphere. The 10 cabins, named after Greek islands, are stylishly furnished, air conditioned, and fitted with both shower and toilet.
Catering
The on-board chef is a member of the crew and prepares the breakfast and one or two warm meals a day. The catering starts with the dinner on the arrival day and ends with the breakfast on the departure day.
Internet availability
Please note that there is no WiFi available onboard the Panagiota. If you need to connect to the internet during the tour, we recommend bringing your portable electronic device to a cafe or bar somewhere in the harbour. Free WiFi is on offer almost everywhere. If you order something to eat or drink, then you are able to use the WiFi to your hearts content.
